Casstevens Boonville - Jay & Jackie Casstevens, loving parents, grandparents, great grandparents, sister, brother, aunt and uncle went to be with our Lord Jesus on August 20, 2014. They were married for 47 years. Jackie was a retired accountant with Yadkin Community Hospital (Hoots) and had a loving work family there for 30 plus years. Jay was a retired employee of Jostens Publishing. Jay & Jackie enjoyed their children, grandchildren, family and friends. Jay was an avid softball player earning the name "Jay Bird" as he flew around the bases with Jackie cheering him all the way. After hanging up his spikes he became a golf enthusiast. Jay was a very talented photographer and had a studio in his home, with Jackie helping out with the brides. Jackie, a true caregiver, loved helping others, loved shopping, the beach and a genuine Elvis fan. Jackie was homecoming queen and cheerleader at Boonville High School. At family gatherings, the competitive spirit came out in a card game of Rook. Loving the Lord, family and friends, they gave of themselves from the heart and always opened their home to those who came by. Surviving are two loving daughters, Trina Swaim (Rick), Gina Cranford (James); loving grandchildren, Neelie Swaim, J Max Swaim, Ryan Jay Messer and Ashley Waldrop (John); and great granddaughter Eva Waldrop. Jay's loving sister, Gayle Wray (Alec); and sister-n-law Wilma Casstevens (Harold), Jackie's loving sister, Debbie Johnson (Jerry); and loving brother, David Greer. Many special nieces and nephews. Preceded in death were Jay's parents, Thad & Thelma Casstevens; brother (Harold); and sister (Josephine Mounce). Preceded in death were Jackie's mother, Mollie Greer; father, Kern Bishop; brother (Russell); and sister (Barbara). Also preceded in death aunt and uncle, Maye and Howard Brown. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at Mitchell's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. John Pillsbury and the Rev. Tim Tucker. A time of condolence will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mitchell's Chapel United Methodist Church.
