John Henry Dobbins

Dobbins Boonville John Henry Dobbins, 82, passed away Sunday, April 01, 2012. He was born April 20, 1929 in Yadkin County to the late Wesley Franklin and Carrie Gentry Dobbins. John enjoyed the outdoors, especially playing golf and hunting. He retired from the Boonville Fire Department and also was a member of the 1946 championship football team from Boonville High School. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Kennedy; brothers, Charles Dobbins and Wesley Dobbins. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Dickerson Dobbins; sons, John Ronald (Rita) Dobbins, Dwaine Dobbins; grandchildren, Dawn (Josh) Casstevens, Carrie Dobbins; sisters, Barbara Adams, Doris (Jesse) Lowe, Marie (Early) Eaton; several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. John Brown and the Rev. Eddie Driver. Burial will follow at Boonville Cemetery will full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, which is serving the Dobbins family.
