Delmar Marion Vanhoy

Jonesville Mr. Delmar Marion Vanhoy, 88, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mr. Vanhoy was born February 20, 1924 in Yadkin County to Will and Nell Wagoner Vanhoy. He served in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Vanhoy retired from Chatham Manufacturing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vanhoy was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Gracie Branon. He is survived by his loving wife, Era Marie Richardson Vanhoy; two children, Wayne (Kathy) Vanhoy and Regina Bell; four grandchildren, Lane (Sherry) Wilkins, Melissa (Tim) Branon, Scott (Ashley) Tucker, and Wesley Bell; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Shawn Branon; and his special K-9 companion, Sadie. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Swaims Baptist Church cemetery at 3:00 PM with Rev. Wesley Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 prior to the service at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canines for Service, PO Box 12643 Wilmington, NC 28405. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Westwood Hills Nursing Center and the staff of Wilkes Regional Medical Center for their love, care, and support shown to them and to Mr. Vanhoy during this difficult time.
