Mastin Hamptonville - Thomas "Frank" Franklin Mastin, 87, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at his home. He was born July 26, 1924 in Wilkes County to the late John Franklin Mastin and Emily Jane Shew Mastin. He served in the US Army during WWII in the 194th Glider Infantry with the 82nd Airborne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Fred and Ertle Swaim; brothers-in-law, Wayne Swaim, Ray Swaim; sister-in-law, Etta Pinnix; half-brother, Herbert Mastin; half-sisters, Minnie Mastin, Lillie Mastin. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Swaim Mastin; son, Gary Franklin Mastin; daughter, Teresa Mastin (Edwin) Tucker; grandchildren, Jennifer (Darren) Harris, Bethany (Daniel) Settle, Dustin Tucker, Dylan Tucker; great grandchildren, McKinley Harris, Braeden Harris, Bryson Settle, Caitlyn Settle; brother, Clay Mastin; sister, Eileen (Ken) Nisewanger; brother-in-law, D.C. (Joan) Swaim; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. His funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Swan Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. N.A. Thompson III and D.C. Swaim. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Memorial can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville is serving the Mastin family.
