Mary Ruth Hutchens Adams

Adams Yadkinville- Mrs. Mary Ruth Hutchens Adams, was born October 2, 1924 in Yadkin County to the late Robert and Saphronia Hutchens. She was retired from Unifi, Inc., and cherished the time she spent as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker for her family. Mrs. Adams was a faithful member of Union Cross Friends Meeting, where she attended as long as her health permitted. She married the late Gaston C. "Cotton" Adams, who preceded her in death on January 29, 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Pearl Hutchens, Ula Hutchens, Bertha Matthews, Lexie Brown; and by her brothers, Walter, J.C., Worth, Alvis, Luther, Beecher, and Marshall Hutchens. Surviving are her 5 children, Frances Adams (Paul) Wooten, Robert W. (Brenda) Adams, Gene (Darlene) Adams, Jerry C. (Sharon) Adams, Jack R. (Sharon) Adams; her 10 grandchildren, Paul, Jr. (Jamie) Wooten, Dara Wooten (Mike) Davis, Susan Adams (Allen) Fletcher, Donald W. Adams, Ronald W. Adams, Shannon Adams (Rodney) Benge, Heath Adams, Kara Adams, Andrea Adams (Brad) Turner, Geoffrey (Starr) Adams; her 11 great-grandchildren, Courtney (Jacob) Trivette, Chelsey Wooten, Adam Casey Davis, Wes Fletcher, Emily and Derrick Adams, Hannah Kate Benge, Lillie Kate and Savannah Turner, Madison Grace and Colton Thomas Adams; her great-great-grandchildren, Ben and Brady Trivette; and her sister, Dorothy Williams. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, February 10, 2014 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Union Cross Friends Meeting by Rev. James Williams and Rev. Robin Dixon. She will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Union Cross Friends Meeting Cemetery Trust Fund, 2533 Union Cross Church Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
