Gary Leigh Bricker

sBricker Advance - Gary Leigh "Pee Paw & G-Pa" Bricker, 68, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at his home. He was born July 24, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Harold Karl Bricker and Dorothy Lindberg Bricker. He was a graduate of Elmhurst College (1967). Gary was most known for his gregarious personality and caring nature, most fitting of a career in sales and marketing. Teaching, however, was his first love, and he both began and ended his career investing in the lives of students. He most recently was a teacher at Northern Guilford High School, where he also coached baseball and softball with intense spirit and great encouragement. Gary also possessed a love for nature, a sense of humor that lit up the room, and a particular affinity for antique toys. He found immense fulfillment in bringing joy to others through humor and words of praise. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Karen; the pride of his life, sons Scott Gary (Susan) Bricker and Leigh Clauson (Kathy) Bricker; and the apples of his eye, granddaughters Sarah Ruth Bricker and Emma Grace Bricker. Other family members include a sister, Sharon Bricker Ferris, and brothers, Frederick Bricker, Russell Bricker, and Douglas Bricker. He was deeply cherished by his family and will be greatly missed. His memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Yadkinville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Oliver Helsabeck. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, one hour prior to the service at Yadkinville UMC.
