Ailene Chappell Pardue

BOONVILLE - Mrs. Ailene Chappell Pardue, 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Yadkin Nursing Center.  She was born August 11, 1931 in Surry County to the late William Arthur and Levora Atkins Chappell.  Mrs. Pardue was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College and spent over 40 years in service to others through education.  She began her career in High Point NC, continued in Pensacola FL, and returned to Yadkin County. During her career in Yadkin County, she taught English and served as librarian at both high school and elementary school levels in Yadkinville and Boonville. During this time, she led the consolidation of the high school libraries across the county into the current Starmount and Forbush high schools.  She was a member of the Gamma Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and received local and national recognition for her accomplishments in education.  Mrs. Pardue was a member of Boonville Baptist Church where she served as the church librarian, and was instrumental in the founding of Boonville Community Library.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hampton “Drake” Pardue, and a brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Phyllis Chappell. Surviving are her son, David Pardue and wife, Donna of Clemmons; her two grandsons, Alex Pardue of Charlotte, Adam Pardue of Mt. Pleasant, SC; niece, Kim C. (Tim) McCart of Holly Ridge; nephew Ronnie (Kathy) Pardue of Kernersville; and a special friend and caregiver Janis Osborne.  Her funeral service will be held Friday, March 1 at 2:00 PM in Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. John Brown and Robin Vann.  Interment will follow in the Boonville Cemetery.  There will be no formal visitation, but we welcome friends and family to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Boonville Community Library or Boonville Baptist Church.
