YADKINVILLE-  Mr. Alan Marcus Whitley, 55, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City, NC.  He was born September 10, 1967 in Mecklenburg County to the late John Bruce and Joyce Ann Odom Whitley.  Alan pursued many interests throughout his life.  He was loved by many and always enjoyed being with his friends laughing while having a “good time”.  When gathering with family and friends, he was either cooking chicken or fixing Boston Butts with his Dad’s secret sauce, for everyone to enjoy.  Alan enjoyed sports but he loved football at all levels regardless if it was high school, college, or professional.  He was a tough competitor especially while he played in high school, but also when he was coaching at Yadkinville Elementary School, Forbush Middle School and Forbush High School.  He was a strong Pittsburgh Steeler Fan, and had been a member of the Wolfpack Club, of which he supported his favorite N.C. State Wolfpack Football.  Alan also loved to travel, he loves animals, and he was very intense about his love for fishing.  His  love for fishing led him to move to Salter Path, NC where he could be closer to enjoy the various fishing spots of the NC Coast.  He was always willing to help others, and kept a tight bond with his numerous friends and family.  Surviving are his sister, Kim (Derick) Crater, Yadkinville; brother, Bruce (Angie) Whitley, Yadkinville; his beloved dog, Max; his special friend, Kellie Beaddles; nephew, Davis Crater; and nieces, Whitley Crater (Seth) Johnson, Colby Crater, and Audrey Whitley; Uncle and Aunt, Brown and Jane Whitley, and cousins, Bob Whitley and Rob Dorton.  The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Monday, November 7, 2022 at Yadkinville United Methodist Church.  His funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 AM Monday in Yadkinville United Methodist Church by Rev. Brent Winslow.  The service will be live streamed through the church website at www.yadkinvilleumc.org.   For those who would like to attend, a graveside service will be held at 3 PM Monday, November 7, 2022 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to either the A.L.S. Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd Suite 600,  Arlington , VA 22209 US,  or to the Wolfpack Club, PO Box 37100, Raleigh, NC 27627.  Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com
