Yadkinville – Mrs. Alda Marie Cheek, 99, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her home. She was born February 4, 1925 in Yadkin County the 2nd born of 6 children born to the late Joseph and Viola Speer Willard. Mrs. Cheek worked with Western Electric, Lucent Technologies, and retired from A.T. and T. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and had been attending Mountain View Baptist Church recently when her health permitted. Mrs. Cheek loved flowers, working outside in her roses, in her garden, or farming with her family through the years. She was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker for her family. She enjoyed being with family and especially spending time in different adventures with her sisters. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilford “Bill” Cheek; by her granddaughter, Derie Reece; and by her bothers and sisters, John Willard, James Willard, Nellie Vestal, Mary Snow, and Jessie Matthews. Surviving are her sons, Larry Cheek; Billy Cheek and wife, Michelle; Bobby Cheek and wife, Deana; grandchildren, Adam Cheek, Amanda Edwards and husband, Rocky, Joshua Cheek, Richard Cheek and wife, Chesseth, Karen Gray and husband, Ryan, Janna Cheek, Aiden Cheek; 13 great-grandchildren; and several cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 2:30 PM Wednesday in Swaim’s Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Don Hudson.
