Anita Denise York

Ms. Anita Denise York, 61, passed away on March 10, 2026. She was born on February 14, 1965 in Davie County to Arthur Jesse York and Peggy Davis York. Anita will be remembered for her warm heart, strong faith, and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. A devoted fan of the North Carolina Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves, she rarely missed a game. She also loved taking vacations, cookbooks & cooking, collecting Donald Duck’s, and watching her nephew, Jackson, play ball. Anita enjoyed playing the piano and sharing that gift with others. She was a faithful Christian and attended Woodland Baptist Church when her health permitted. For 36 years, Anita served as a dedicated nurse at Yadkin Nursing center, showing compassion and kindness to every resident she cared for. Above all, she was a loving and devoted daughter, who treasured her mother, Peggy, and was always willing to do anything she could to help her as she was able.

Anita was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Jesse York; maternal grandparents, Genie and Etta Davis; and paternal grandparents, Henry and Magdaline York. She is survived by her mother, Peggy Davis York; brother, Shannon York; special nephew, Jackson Levi York; sister-in-law, Emily York; special friend, Crystal Watkins; and several special cousins.

A funeral service for Anita will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2:00PM in the Gentry Family Chapel of East Bend with Rev. Tim Gammons and Rev. Joel Vestal officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forbush Friends Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 – 2:00PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend.

In addition to flowers, memorial may be made to the Woodland Baptist Building Project at 1175 Bethania-Rural Hall Rd, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
