Arlie Randal Mitchem

Mr. Arlie Randal Mitchem, 75, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. He was born in Welch, WV on September 9, 1949 to Arlie Mitchem and Sadie R. Mitchem. Arlie worked at Burlington Industries for 21 years, Gulistan Carpets for 12 years, and Lydall for 8-10 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Arlie enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. He loved his special K9 companion, Tanner, and gave him the best life. Above all, Arlie deeply loved his children and family. He will be missed by those who loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Nance; brother, Weaver Mitchem; and sister, Elizabeth Ann Mitchem. He is survived by his children, Lisa Allen (Mark) Stokes and Randal Lee (Krysten) Mitchem; grandchildren, Laura (Curtis) Opekun, Jeromy Nance, Amelia Stokes, Hunter Mitchem (Hallie), Olivia Mitchem, Zake Donaghy, and Sadie Mitchem; great-grandchildren, Tanner Opekun, Katelyn Opekun, and Randal Dean Nance; brothers, Roy Mitchem and Wes Mitchem; girlfriend, Brenda Galliher; and many children whom he raised as his own.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2025 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville. Interment will follow at Harmony City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Mitchem family.
