HARDY

EAST BEND – Mrs. Audrey Lee Nichols Hardy, 89, of Holly Springs Road, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 29, 2026. She was born June 19, 1937, in Yadkin County to the late Luther E. and Clara Martin Nichols.

Mrs. Hardy lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a steadfast faith. Throughout the years, she started driving a school bus her senior year at East Bend High School, then worked at Hanes Hosiery and later served others as a Nursing Assistant at the Blumenthal Jewish Home in Winston-Salem. Following her retirement, she continued to enjoy staying active and working with friends at the Briar Patch Florist in East Bend.

While she took pride in her work, Audrey’s greatest joy was always found within her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law who treasured the time she was able to spend with those she loved. She enjoyed the simple blessings of being a homemaker, working alongside her family on the farm, and creating a home filled with love and cherished memories. Her family was the center of her life, and the love she gave so freely will remain a lasting part of each of them.

Her faith was also an important foundation throughout her life. Mrs. Hardy was a lifelong and faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in East Bend. Her church family held a special place in her heart, and over the years she was blessed with many friendships there that brought her great joy and fellowship, especially with Diane Davis and Ronda Vestal.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Gray Hardy; all of her brothers and sisters; and several extended family members.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three children, Greg (Regina) Hardy, Cindy Hardy Kye (the late Michael Kye), and Terry (Tonya) Hardy; her grandchildren, Megan (Davin) Frankosky, John (Amanda) Hardy, Kelly Kye (Thomas) Sawyer, and Brent (McKenzie) Kye; her great-grandchildren, Johnathan and Zachary Hardy, Josie and Goldie Kye, and Waverley Sawyer; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Audrey will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her willingness to work hard, her caring spirit, and the quiet faithfulness with which she lived her life. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love, faith, and memories she leaves behind will continue to be treasured by her family and friends.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Poindexter and Rev. Bill Messer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service in the Fellowship Hall of Friendship Baptist Church.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 4720 Siloam Road, East Bend, NC 27018.
