Mrs. Barbara Haynes Chipman, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 4, 2023.
She was born in Surry County on March 19, 1935 to Arthur Haynes and Salley Wagoner Haynes. Barbara loved the church and was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church for over 50 years. She had a special love for children. Playing bingo and doing word searches were also one of Barbara’s favorite things.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Chipman; son, Gary Chipman; granddaughter, Stephanie Chipman; great granddaughter, Taylor Chipman.
She is survived by her five children, Patricia (Gary) Holbrook, Charles Dale (Tammy H.) Chipman, Gwyn (Sandy) Chipman, David (Donna) Chipman, and Terry Chipman; daughter-in-law, Lynn Chipman; grandchildren, Melissa (Justin) Billings, Bradley (Rebekah) Holbrook, Lori (Stuart) Earp, Chris Chipman (Amy Jo Couch), Jenna (Matt) Campbell, Derek (India) Chipman, Stephen Chipman, Ashley Chipman, Rachel Chipman, Toshia (Charles Mauck) Chipman, and Payton Chipman; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Herbert Haynes; sisters, Brenda Duncan, Wilda Hutchens, Sarah Mathis, and Elaine Walker; .
A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville with Rev. Gordon Macemore and Rev. Travis Chipman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 3:00PM prior to the service.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Chatham Nursing, as well as the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their loving care given to Barbara.
