Barbara Lou Tickle White passed away on May 26, 2025.

Born on September 18, 1931, Barbara was the daughter of Posey and Alma Tickle of the Red Brush Community in Surry County, NC. Barbara graduated from White Plains High School and became an RN after completing training at Martin Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Mount Airy, NC. During her lifetime, Barbara lived in Princeton WVA, Spartanburg SC, Winston-Salem, Elkin, Clemmons, Durham, Chapel Hill, Yadkinville, and Denver NC, Tampa FL and Whitetop VA. A dedicated, caring labor and delivery nurse for her entire career, Barbara helped many newborns come into the world.

After retiring, Barbara enjoyed square dancing, golfing, camping (especially near the ocean), boating, beading and playing bridge. She spoke lovingly of the fun she had with her dear friends at Creekside Terrace. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with them. Her family have all been her pride and joy.

In Heaven she was met by her beloved youngest son, Russell, who passed away in November 2019. She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Wade White Sr; her parents, and her siblings Billy Tickle and Joyce Willams (Stan).

Survivors include her sons, Wade White, Jr. (Kathy), Kenneth White (Mary Casteel) and daughter, Jeanne White (Sherilyn Brewer). She is also survived by her brother Donald Tickle (Ann), sisters Glenda Coe (William, d.), Carol Smitherman (Mike) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her grandchildren include Jonathan White (Crystal), Ashley White Tremper (Tim), Tyler White (Shelby Schoonover), Jason White (Lindsey), Myra White, Nathan White, Jason Brewer (Dianne) and Haley Brewer (Christa). Her great-grandchildren are Alec, Avery, Tatum, Andrew, Cooper, Sawyer, Emee, and Teddy.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who supported Barbara with love and care throughout the years. Your kindness and presence meant so much to her and to all of us. A special thank you goes to the dedicated providers at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for their unwavering compassion and commitment in caring for her.
