BOONVILLE-  Mrs. Bernice Hutchens Rhodes, 80, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Ridge Valley Health and Rehab in North Wilkesboro.  She was born August 13, 1943 in Wilkes County to the late William Harley and Nellie Bishop Hutchens.  Mrs. Rhodes was the last surviving member of the Faith Trio Gospel Group, where she enjoyed performing at several area churches, and participating in the Singing at the Sea Cruises for over 16 years.  She was a faithful member of Old Fashion Baptist Church where she loved her church family, and was active in the Music Ministry. Mrs. Rhodes loved to travel, enjoyed fishing, was a strong advocate for the Tri-State Childrens Home, and especially loved all of her family, especially her grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Lee Rhodes; her daughter, Sandy Hunt; sister, Agnes Wilcox; and brothers, J.T. Hutchens, Bill Hutchens, Johnny Hutchens, and Tony Hutchens.  Surviving are her children, Deborah (Earl) Cook, Janet (Kenny) Webb, William Byers, Lisa (Marty) Jones; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45 PM Saturday at Old Fashion Baptist Church in Hamptonville.  Her Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Church with Pastor Bob Edwards officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Ridge Valley Health and Rehab, and the Hospice Division of Geneva Medical for the loving care given to Mrs. Rhodes.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Tri-State Childrens Home, PO Box 888, Bristol, TN  37621.  Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.  Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Rhodes Family.
