East Bend - Mrs. Bettie Mae Angell Luper, 82, of Macedonia Road passed away peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2026 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1944 in Yadkin County to the late John T. and Mary Johnson Angell.

Mrs. Luper was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. She worked several years as a beautician in the area, and loved to bake, sew, collect turtles and salt and pepper shakers, and loved playing cards with her family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, J.T. Angell.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 63 years, Barry H. Luper of the home; her daughter, Loriena B. Luper; her son, John Barry Luper; granddaughters, Carolann Mary Krall, Alexia Nicole Krall; grandson, Seth Hobson; great-grandson, Josiah Angel Rojas; her sister, Henrietta Church; sister-in-law,  Kay Angell; niece, Judy Brown; nephew, John (Cindy) Angell, Paul (Jennifer) Angell; great-nephews, Christopher Keith (Twinkle) Brown, Aaron Kyle (Kathryn) Brown, David Angell, Michael Angell; great-niece, Tessa Angell; great-great-nieces, Kylee Brown, Chrislyn Brown; and her good childhood friend, Carolyn Smitherman.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service of East Bend. He funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 AM Wednesday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Rick Waddell, Rev. Tim Waddell and interment to follow in the East Bend Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Chris Brown.
