Betty Jean Holden Spillman

Kernersville - Mrs. Betty Jean Holden Spillman, 73, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born May 14, 1950, in Yadkin County to the late Paul and Mae Johnson Holden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Holden, a sister, Margaret Norman, Brother-in-Law, Ronny Norman and Sister-in-Law, Joyce Holden, Surviving are her devoted husband of 55 years, David Spillman; son, Brian Spillman, daughter, Casey Spillman Conner (Chris), a brother, Steve Holden (Tammy Atwood), and special “sister” Janet Smitherman.  Mrs. Spillman also leaves behind her grandchildren; Nicholas David and Kennedy Conner, Carter and Lily Spillman and a great grandson, Jackson David Horne.  Mrs. Spillman has two beloved nieces, whom she thought of as daughters, Denise (Richard) Foutz and Karen Richards; and loved their children as her very own. They are Alex (Michael) Swerbinsky and children Sam and Henry, Rachel Shore (Hunter) and children, Margaret and Elizabeth, Abby Pardue, Blaine Richards, and a host of other adored nieces and nephews.  She also leaves behind an unwavering friend of more than 50 years, Shelby Pettyjohn, and her daughter Lori, who have been a source of constant comfort and love.  The family wishes to thank the church family for their steadfast support during Betty’s illness.  Also, thank you to her special Kernersville friends, who quickly became like family.  Throughout her illness, Betty stood strong in her faith, expressing her love and appreciation to her family, friends, and caregivers. She was confident that she would be with her Savior and that we would all be together again, whole and healed. Until that time, we will remember and miss her each day and give thanks for such a wonderful Godly example.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at East Bend Friends Meeting Fellowship Hall from 4-5pm with a light reception to follow.  Memorials can be made to East Bend Friends Meeting Cemetery Fund, PO Box 21, East Bend, NC 27018.
