Betty Jean Ladd

Betty Jean Lewis Ladd, 88, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Betty was born on November 4, 1937, in Wilkes County to the late Thomas Benjamin Lewis and Sina Marie Adams Lewis.

She was a proud member of the East Wilkes High School Class of 1956. Throughout her life, Betty found joy in sewing, cooking, spending time outdoors, and admiring all kinds of flowers. She especially cherished reading her Bible and attending church whenever she was able.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 37 years, Paul Weaver Ladd, sister, Mary Kate Brannon, brother, Phillip “Buck” Lewis, brothers-in-law, Arnold Wagoner, JW Brannon and sister-in-law, Faye Elizabeth Brannon.

Betty is survived by her sister, Peggy Wagoner, nieces, Susie Bryant, Amanda Porter, Christy Osborne (Charles), Shelia Lamm, Robin Marable (Jack), nephews, Phil Lewis (Lisa), Scottie Brannon (Christine), Michael Cummings (Vena), nine great nieces and nephews and five great great nieces and nephews.

The family will visit with friends on Friday, February 6, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Gentry Family Chapel of Yadkinville with Rev. Joe Griffin and Rev. Payton Day officiating. Burial will be held in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
