Mrs. Betty Jane Pruitt Reavis, 80, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024. She was born August 14, 1943 in Forsyth County to the late Thomas Bryant Pruitt and Bessie Hodges Pruitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Jane Reavis; son-in-law, Richard Eugene Gilley; six brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry Clyde Reavis; children, Teresa Marie Tina Gilley, of Boonville; Annette (Greg) Reavis Knight, of Boonville; Jerry (Michelle) Dwane Reavis, of West Jefferson; Joseph (Melissa) Clyde Reavis, of Wellington, Ohio; grandchildren, Richard Clyde Gilley, of Seattle, Washington; Britknee Jane Reavis, of Clemmons; Joshua Dwane Reavis of Greensboro; Jake Pollard of Maine; Sidney Pollard, of Abingdon, Virginia; Joseph Ray Teague, of Boonville; Charlene Teague, of Winston Salem; Miranda and Brandon Sorg, of Wellington, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Jayden Grady, of Clemmons; Braxton Vaughn of Clemmons; Winston and Reece Claycomb, of Abingdon, Virginia; sister, Pete Pruitt Elliott; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved. Mrs. Reavis was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She retired from Royal Cake Company in 1989. Mrs. Reavis loved spending time with God, reading and listening to the Bible and praying for all her family and friends. She enjoyed watching and listening to gospel music, and she loved spending time with her family, especially her husband. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in the Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Zane Fishel officiating, burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston Salem. Memorials may be made to Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation (Palliative Care Unit), or Temple Baptist Church in Mt. Airy. The family would like to thank the amazing ER, ICU, ICCU, and Palliative Care Teams and Dr. Simon at FMC, who delivered remarkable care and comfort from June 25 - July 12, 2024; and a special thanks to Travis Howell and his team at Village Point Family Medicine.
