Billy Wayne Thompson

Mr. Billy Wayne Thompson, 74, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025. He was born in Surry County on July 7, 1950 to Boyd Thompson and Alpha Thompson. Billy worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for many years, where he eventually retired. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved being in the outdoors. Billy lived a very simple and happy life. More than anything, he deeply loved his wife and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Thompson and a brother, Ricky Thompson. He is survived by his son, Brian Thompson and wife, Sandy; three grandchildren, Stacy Truban and husband, David, Beth Lighthart and husband, Levi, and Savana Lincomfelt and husband, Samuel; great-grandchildren, Myla Truban and Thea Truban; sister, Kathy (Jerry) Sumner and Becky (Eddie) Lyons; and brother, Jimmy (Jeanie) Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Salem Fork Baptist Church, 555 Twin Oaks Road, Elkin, NC. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM in the church with Pastor Sean Joplin and Mr. Thompson’s son, Rev. Brian Thompson, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Thompson Family.
