Bobby Ray Chambers

August 15, 1936 — April 3, 2026

Ronda

Mr. Bobby Ray Chambers, 89, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026. He was born in Iredell County on August 15, 1936 to Wint and Pauline Chambers. Bobby was a member of Dennyville Baptist Church. He was quite the jack of all trades. Bobby was a carpenter for most of his life, but he also farmed tobacco and was a truck driver for some time. He had many stories to tell about his truck driving days and was sure to often share those fond memories with his family. Bobby was an avid Nascar fan. He enjoyed tinkering and piddling on anything he could find to work on around the house. Bobby would often tell his children “If you’re going to do something right, do it right the first time or don’t do it at all”, which helped instill great wisdom to each of them. One of his favorite past times was sitting on his front porch. More than anything, he loved his family and loved spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him.

He is survived by four children, Audie (Judy) Chambers, Diann (William) Winkler, Michael (Traci) Chambers, and Lisa (Jim) Wells; grandchildren, Brittany (Micah) Habershaw, Samantha Winkler, Brianna (David) Spaugh, Chase Wells, Conner Wells, Leslie (Greg) Warren, Hannah (Lane) Bare, and Seth Adams; great-grandchildren, Rowyn Habershaw, Embry Habershaw, Kaisen James, Aaron Hostetter, Elethea Hostetter, Luca Bare, Asher Warren, Issac Warren, Malachi Warren, Josie Warren, Eleanor Spaugh, and Rylen Bare; brothers, Robert Chambers and Roy Chambers; special nieces, Trish Riley and Lana Younger; and nephew, Jamie Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Walker Chambers; granddaughter, Regan Wells; siblings, Margaret Swaim, Bill Chambers, Carolyn Roberts, David Chambers, and an infant brother; and nephew, Ricky Roberts.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Dennyville Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. following the visitation at the church with Pastor Robert Wiles, Pastor Jason Wiles, and Roger Mayberry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Gentiva Hospice of North Wilkesboro, https://app.etapestry.com/onlineforms/GentivaFoundation/GHS.html. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Gentiva Hospice of North Wilkesboro, special CNA, Natalie Fargo, and special nurses, Breanna Anderson and Haley Jordan, for the loving compassion and care given to Mr. Chambers and his family. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Chambers family.
