Bobby Lee Smith

Boonville – Bobby Lee “Daddy Bob” Smith, 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 16, 2026. He was born September 10, 1932 in Yadkin County to the Late Roscoe Smith and Lillian Bovender Smith.

“Daddy Bob” was a proud graduate of Boonville High School. He was a lifelong member of Deep Creek Friends Meeting where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He served on the Board of Directors for Carolina Farm Credit and helped encourage young people to pursue farming. Bob helped develop the church softball league at Boonville, which became a memorable community event. “Daddy Bob” enjoyed watching all types of sports, but his favorite teams to watch were the Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs and Duke basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Laura Elizabeth Shore Smith; grandsons, Connor Smith, Matthew Smith; sister, Audrey Holcomb Bavender (Charles, Clyde); brothers, Gray (Cora Evelyn) Smith, Aubrey (Mary) Smith, James (Gaynell) Smith; sister-in-law, Carol (Ray) Shore; and son-in-law, Randy Davis. He is survived by his children, Derek (Karen) Smith, Kelly (Mike) Welborn, Kristen “Kristy” Davis; grandchildren, Chandler (Kailub) Russell, McKinnon (Carly) Welborn, Hunter (Layne) Michael, Gatlin (Maggie) Welborn, Easton (Kaitlyn) Smith, Sawyer (Kayla Carter) Davis, Denver Davis; great grandchildren, Krue Russell, Colyns Russell, Keelan Russell, Barrett Welborn, Lynden Welborn, Gaines Welborn, Madden Michael, Court Michael, Maya Welborn, Skipper Smith, Keagan Davis; sister, Kathryne Powers; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Lester Holcomb and the Rev. Vann Harrell. Burial will follow at Deep Creek Friends Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, June 19, 2026 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers, Judy, Susie, Stephanie, Kawana, Michelle, Kathy for all the love and care shown to “Daddy Bob”.
