YADKINVILLE-  Mrs. Brenda Hurt Dill, 79, of Brenda Road passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024.  She was born April 16, 1944 in Surry County to the late E.K. and Elsie Hurt.   Mrs. Dill was a graduate of Courtney High School and started working at Hanes Knitting/ Sara Lee where she continued until her retirement 43 years later.  She loved to spend time outside,  traveling, reading, gardening, working in her flowers or being the Scout Mom for her children’s Boy Scout Troop while growing up.  Mrs. Dill also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for others, and while working was active in a group that crocheted hats for newborns at the N.I.C.U.  She was an active member of Huntsville Baptist Church and was always willing to help others.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Bertie Draughn, aunt Toss Draughn, uncle Bill Draughn and cousin Bonnie Draughn.  Surviving are her beloved husband, Robert Gray “Bob” Dill of the home; her children, Teresa (David) Loy, John (Faith) Dill, Jason (Amber) Dill; grandchildren, Christopher Parks, Ashley (Charlie) Ross, Jeffrey Loy, Gavin Dill, Caroline Dill, Sophia Dill, Ellie Dill; great-grandchildren, Joshua Parks, Keely Brown, Elsie Ross; and several loving cousins and friends.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  Her Funeral Service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, February 26., 2024 at Huntsville Baptist Church by Rev. Larry Trivette and Rev. Dennis Shaw.  She will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or  memorials may be made to Huntsville Baptist Church.
