Geraldine Groce Swaim

HAMPTONVILLE - Mrs. Callie Geraldine Swaim, 97, passed away on July 29, 2025. She was born in Yadkin County to the late Solomon and Nellie Stroud Groce on May 24, 1928.

She had an extraordinary “green thumb”, made wonderful chocolate pies, and loved mowing the yard. She fondly recalled playing for the West Yadkin girls’ championship basketball team of 1947.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Claude Swaim, sister Irene Chappell, infant brother Harold Groce and brother Darrell Groce.

She loved deeply and is survived by her daughter Dawn (David) Brown, her son Claude Dean (Debbie) Swaim and grandsons Dean Henry “Hank” (Tracy) Swaim and Daniel Alexander (Emily) Swaim.

A private graveside service will be held at Swaim’s Baptist Church Cemetery where she was a member.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Swaims Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3919 Swaims Church Road, Hamptonville, NC  27020.
