Carlos Eugene Pennington, Sr.

Yadkinville – Carlos Eugene Pennington, Sr., 77, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022. He was born July 22, 1944 in Ashe County to the late Thomas Clint Pennington and Callie Ester Jones Pennington. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Gentry Pennington; two infant grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Melinda Pennington; sister, Opal Brown; brothers, Joseph Pennington, Raymond Pennington, Spencer Pennington and two infant brothers. Surviving are his children, Melissa (Johnny) Buelin, Anita (Sammy) Bost, Oscar (JoAnn) Gilley, Carlos (Gwendolyn) Pennington, Jr.; grandchildren, Amber Sayers, Andrea Sayers, John Gilley, Callie Mae Bost, Thomas Bost, Christopher Wood, Jocie Wood, Kaylinn Cave, Seth Rash, Joshua (Darby) Rash; great grandchildren, Izabella Byrd, Noah Byrd, Caleb Byrd, Ayla Chambers, Paxton Chambers; sister, Maggie (Lloyd) Mortez; brother, Walter (Linda) Pennington; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Stephen Pope, Dr. Allen Barker, and the Rev. David Maynard. Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Grove with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Monday, June 27, 2022 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
