Carol Sue Vestal Everhardt

June 9, 1942 — June 7, 2026

Winston Salem

Mrs. Carol Sue Vestal Everhart, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Born June 9, 1942, in Forsyth County to C. Dotson and Maggie Webb Vestal, Carol spent her childhood in Yadkin County and graduated from East Bend High School. She later attended Draughons Business College, completing one year of business studies before moving to Winston‑Salem in 1960.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ruth Vestal Smith of Winston‑Salem; her brother, Jimmy Vestal of Yadkin County; her son, Mark Everhart of Tobaccoville; and a beloved niece, Robin Lee of Louisiana.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Tony Everhart of Winston‑Salem; her son Chris and his wife Cindy; her granddaughter Tiffany; and her grandsons Tyler and his wife Kristina; and Tanner and his wife Eliza. Carol was also blessed with three great‑grandchildren: Mila, Emerson, and Harper.

A woman of deep compassion and unwavering faith, Carol dedicated much of her life to serving others. Carol spent her life volunteering for various organizations —including ten years with the Contact Suicide Prevention Hotline, as well as service with Crisis Control, adult literacy programs, and Meals on Wheels. Her church, New Hope Methodist Church, was central to her life. She served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, usher, and member of numerous committees. Carol believed wholeheartedly in her calling to serve, reflected in the words, “She loved people, and she felt that God put her on earth to help others.”

Carol also contributed her leadership and wisdom as a board member for Piedmont Aviation Credit Union, Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, and Helping Hands of Yadkin County.

A service celebrating Carol’s life will be led by Rev. Melanie Nichols. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 1:00–2:00 PM at New Hope Global Methodist Community Church in Winston‑Salem. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church.

Carol’s legacy of kindness, service, and steadfast faith will continue to shine through the many lives she touched.

Gentry Family Funeral Service of East Bend is serving the Everhart family.
