Carol Jean Brown Miller

BOONVILLE-  Mrs. Carol Jean Brown Miller, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Yadkin Nursing Center.  She was born July 7, 1937 in Forsyth County to the late Conard and Bonnie Matthews Brown.  Mrs. Miller was a devout lifelong member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she played piano from the time she was 16 until she was in her early 70’s.  If the church had a club or cause, she was always all in.  Carol loved her family with all her heart, yet somehow found even more love for her very special son Raleigh. Carol graduated from Boonville High School, where she was Home Coming Queen, and worked at Hanes and then moved to RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company as a Senior Office Assistant, where she retired in 1989.  Mrs. Miller was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, she loved all of her family, her church, a good laugh, and Elvis.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Miller; son, Raleigh Miller; brothers, C.D. Brown, Rayford Brown; several loving in-laws; and her best friend, Evelyn.  Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Reno (Tammy) Miller, Will (Wendy) Miller; grandsons, Cody (Morgan) Miller, Jake Miller (Molly Carini), Luke Miller (Brooks Collier), Wesley Miller, Brady Miller (Samantha Cromwell); great-granddaughter, Tatum Miller; great-grandson, Drake Miller; brother, Ronda Lee (Kay) Brown; sister, Catherine (Phil) Shaw; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  Her funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church by Kelly Carpenter and Ronnie Vanhoy.  She will lie in-state from 9:30-10:00 AM prior to the service.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers of Mrs. Miller at her home, and to the nurses and staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for all the loving care and support given to her and the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either New Horizons Adult Day Service, 1917 West Main Street, Yadkinville, NC  27055 or to Mt.
