Mrs. Caroldine Smith Winebarger, 79, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025. She was born April 16, 1946 in Iredell County to the late Thomas Asbury Smith and Geraldine Galliher Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Gary (Linda) Smith; and her infant brother, Jerry Neal Smith. Mrs. Winebarger was a life member of Rock Spring Baptist Church where she served in many roles including Sunday school teacher, church secretary, choir director and choir member. Caroldine graduated from Davis Hospital School of Nursing with her Nursing degree in 1968. She then graduated with her Bachelor in Nursing from Winston Salem State University in 1997. She received her Master’s in Health Administration from Kennedy Western University in 2001. Mrs. Winebarger worked in labor and delivery at Davis Memorial Hospital before transitioning to Davie County Health Department where she served in many roles and retiring as Director of Nursing with over 30 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed working for the Iredell County Board of Elections at various polling sites. Caroldine was always looking for new adventures as she took art classes, fiddle, autoharp, and piano lessons. She loved beach trips with her family. Caroldine loved cooking for her family, and her favorite dessert was ice cream. Her greatest joy was attending any activities her grandchildren were involved in. Caroldine was known for her wealth of medical knowledge in the Turkeyfoot community where she was called upon for any ailments her neighbors might have. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Eugene Lee Winebarger; her children, Scott (Angela) Winebarger, Angellina (Jason) Graham; grandchildren, Seth (Katie) Miller, Peyton Winebarger, Chloe Winebarger, Blake (Paige) Winebarger, Casey Graham, Wyatt Graham; great-grandchildren, Tatum Bracey, Sophia Miller; her brothers, Kenny (Susan) Smith, Randal (Carolyn) Smith; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends, Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Rock Spring Baptist Church in Harmony. A celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. Randy Goodin and Rev. Jesse Stroud officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to the thank the staff of Gordon Hospice House for the loving care shown to Caroldine and her family. Memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House of Statesville. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Winebarger family.
