EAST BEND — Mrs. Cathy Foster Carter, 73, of Hutchens Road, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, surrounded by the comfort of compassionate care.
Mrs. Carter was born March 12, 1953, in Yadkin County to the late Chester J. Foster and Doris Wooten Foster. A dedicated and hardworking woman, she retired after 40 years of service with Unifi, Inc. in Yadkinville, where she was known for her commitment and strong work ethic.
Cathy was a faithful member of Forbush Friends Meeting, where her quiet spirit, kindness, and love for her church family left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time outdoors gardening, mowing her yard, watching NASCAR races, and especially crappie fishing, which brought her both peace and happiness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Rex Foster and Donnie Foster.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved and devoted husband of 40 years, Bobby Eugene Carter, whose steadfast love was the cornerstone of her life. She is also survived by her nephew, Chris Foster (Jennifer) and Harmony Foster; her cousin, Bobby Wooten; three sisters-in-law, Jackie Foster, Cindy Malano, and Becky (Jay) Creasy; and her special friend, Carol Milholand, whose companionship meant so much to her.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel, conducted by Rev. Mitch See. Burial will follow in the Forbush Friends Meeting Cemetery.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hugh Chatham Home Health and Mountain Valley Hospice for the loving and attentive care shown to Mrs. Carter during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Forbush Friends Cemetery Fund.
Mrs. Carter will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
