Christine Long Billings

Feb 7, 1963 — Aug 28, 2026

Christine Billings, 63, of Yadkinville, North Carolina, passed away on August 28, 2026. To know Christine was to know a woman who was strong, independent, at times hard-headed, and fiery—and she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. She was never afraid to speak her mind, stand her ground, or do things her own way.

But beneath her strong exterior was a woman with an enormous heart and an unwavering devotion to the people she loved. Christine spent 20 years as a registered nurse, and she truly loved what she did. Nursing wasn't simply a job to her. Caring for people mattered to her, and she took pride in making a difference in the lives of her patients. She especially loved teaching new nurses and helping them find their confidence as they began their own careers. The knowledge and compassion she shared with those she worked alongside will continue through the nurses she helped shape. But if you asked Christine what mattered most, it wasn't her career. It was her family. She loved being a wife, mom, and a mamaw. Some of her happiest moments in life were the ones spent simply being with her husband Scott, daughter, Jennifer, her son-in-law, TJ, and her grandchildren, Tyler, Memphis, and Maverick. She treasured those moments—the laughter, the conversations, the chaos, and all the little pieces of everyday life that become the memories we will hold onto forever. And, of course, she was a devoted cat mom to Raven and Ivy, her two loyal companions who were never far from her side.

Christine knew how to enjoy life, too. She loved camping, the beach, and the mountains. She loved getting her hands in the dirt and tending to her flower beds. She loved sitting outside on her deck or in her side garden, talking and laughing with family, and those who knew her best will probably remember that laughter just as much as anything else.

Christine was preceded in death by her father, Cliff Long, and her husband, Scott Billings. She leaves behind her mother, Steffi Long; her daughter, Jennifer Bowman and son-in-law TJ; her grandchildren, Tyler Winters, Memphis Bowman, and Maverick Bowman; and countless family members, friends, coworkers, former patients, and nurses whose lives she touched along the way. Christine was not perfect—and she never pretended to be. She was fiercely herself. She loved deeply, laughed loudly, cared tremendously, and fought hard for the people and things that mattered to her. Her family will miss her in all the places she used to be—in the garden, at the beach, in the mountains, and in the middle of all those ordinary moments that never seemed important enough to remember until they're gone. Most of all, they will miss simply having her here. Christine's life was made up of the people she loved, the people she cared for, the places that made her happy, and the memories she left behind. Her greatest legacy will not be found in a title or a career, but in the lives she touched and the family who will carry her love with them for the rest of their lives. Per Christine's wishes, no public services will be held.
