Cornelia M. Sloan

Cornelia Belle Macy Sloan, 87, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026. Cornelia was born on May 31, 1938, in Yadkin County to the late Edmund Warren Macy and Hattie Wood Macy. Mrs. Sloan loved working in her garden, reading and playing Bingo at Christmas.

In addition to her parents, Cornelia was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Van Sloan, grandson, Marshall Bailey Sloan, siblings, Marjorie Webb, Lucille Webb, Charles Macy, Cynthia Anderson and Rose Stanley.

Those left to cherish Cornelia’s memory include her daughters, Marsha Sloan, Connie Smith, grandchildren, Emily Fletcher (Jessie), Devin Simkoff (Josh), Heather Smith, siblings, Billy Macy, Claude Macy (Jean) and Alda Tesar and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Sloan at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 3, at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Greg Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church at 2616 Buck Shoals Rd, Hamptonville, NC 27020.
