D. Pete Renegar

Hamptonville Mr. D. Pete Renegar, 87, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022 at his home. Mr. Renegar was born September 25, 1935 in Iredell County to Travis and Lola Wooten Renegar. He enjoyed playing the banjo, working on things, cutting wood, fishing, and doing anything outdoors. Pete retired from Roadway as a long-haul truck driver. In addition to his parents, Mr. Renegar was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Asbury; a granddaughter, Crystal Marie Renegar; brothers, Jarvis “Buck”, Eldon “Skinner”, Robert “Bob”, and Travis “June” Renegar; and sisters, Ruth Reavis, Margaret Cloninger, and Maxine Faught. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue Holleman Renegar; two sons, Timothy Renegar and Luther (Tammy) Renegar; daughters, Annette (Randy) Mitchell, Beth McMahan, and Amy (Frankie) Reavis; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Temple Hill Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Nichols and Rev. Clyde Holleman, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and US Army National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00PM, prior to the service at the church. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Iredell County, Katrina, Crystal, Sammie, and LeAnn, for the loving care given to Pete during this difficult journey. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Renegar family.
