Yadkinville-  Mr. Daniel Gray “Fly” Spillman, Sr., 65, of Old Stage Road passed away peacefully Monday, August 22, 2022 at Atrium Health Baptist Medical Center.  He was born October 17, 1956 in Yadkin County to the late Sam and Hazel Jones Spillman.  Mr. Spillman worked for several years with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, then worked with VF Jeans Brands of Mocksville.  He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church and loved going fishing at the coast with his friends.  Mr. Spillman loved to talk, had never met a stranger, especially loved cooking, and just loved “having a good time” with family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Danielle Spillman, by his brother-in-law, Barry Reavis, and his aunt and uncle, Nell and Bud Baity.  Surviving are his beloved wife of 25 years, Rose McAninch Spillman; his 3 children, Casandra (BJ) Hutchens, Melanie Freeman, Daniel Spillman, Jr.; grandchildren, Justin Choplin, Austin Choplin, Autumn Freeman, Olivia Freeman; his sister, Kathy Spillman Reavis; brother, Samuel David Spillman; uncle, Lester (Betty) Spillman; 3 of his best friends, Scott Muncus, Teddy Hoots, Mark Hutchinson; his special little canine baby, Sadie; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  The family will receive friends from 11AM to 12 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  He will also be available for public viewing during the day 8AM to 5 PM on Friday at the funeral home.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12 PM Saturday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Chris Hauser.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a Hospice of the donor’s choice in Mr. Spillmans name.  The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Donnie Rose for all of your help, the nurses and staff of Atrium Health Cancer Floor and Infusion Suite, Dr. Pasche and his staff.  Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Spillman Family.  Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
