David "Alton" Vestal

Boonville – David “Alton” Vestal, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He was born January 22, 1940 in Yadkin County to the late Delmer Monroe “Jack” Vestal and Rachel Pauline Norman Vestal.

Alton was a devoted member of Union Grove Baptist Church and deeply loved his church family. He was the owner and operator of Wiseman Oil Company for 31 years. He previously served as an active member for the Fall Creek Fire Department. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for Boonville Elementary School and he was a member of the Boonville Restaurant breakfast club. Alton loved to fish, mow his grass, watch NASCAR, and volunteer for Impact Yadkin. He enjoyed his time outdoors and working on his farm. But his pride and joy were spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, William Vestal. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emogene Wiseman Vestal; children, Velvet (Tony) Hicks, David (Melinda) Vestal; grandchildren, Michael (Bailey) Hicks, Erika (Ryan) Yoder, Natalie Hicks, Dalton Vestal; great grandchildren, Brady Yoder, Marshall Hicks, and one due in May 2026; sister, Jane (Donnie) Cooper.

His funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 16, 2026 at Union Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenny Gooden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Friday at Union Grove Baptist Church.
