David Leicester George

Yadkinville – David Leicester George, Sr., 87, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2026. He was born November 3, 1939 in Crawford County, PA in the city of Meadville to the late Kenneth George and Florence McCallum George.

David proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 thru 1963 during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the matador and mace missiles. After his service, he worked with Bell South and transferred to Winston-Salem AT&T as a manager in the repair bureau until his retirement. After retirement, he earned his Auctioneer License and opened Dave’s Antiques in Yadkinville and Elkin for 20 years. Dave loved the Lord and was a faithful member of South Oak Ridge Baptist Church and he dearly loved and prayed for his church family. He served with Compassion Care Center of Yadkinville. David also was a member of the Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and was an Honor Guard Member as long as his health permitted.

In addition to his parents and step-mother, Mary, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Bob George. David is survived by his wife, Penny Lange George; children, David George Jr., Jeffery George, Jeremy George, Danielle Preston, Kevin Lange, Alicia Wood; 18 grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Sheila Orton, Cathy deLormier, Phyllis Miller; brother, Eric George; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at South Oak Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Hauser and Dr. Phil Beavers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
