Derrick Rodney Kimbrough

Derrick Rodney Kimbrough passed away on October 8, 2022, at the family residence in East Bend, NC.  Rodney was the fifth of six children born to Samuel and Juanita Jarrett Kimbrough born on October 19, 1965.  In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his grandmothers; Ruth Jarrett McLaurin and Mary Alice Kimbrough Hawkins; and his great-grandmother, Laura Glenn.  He was a graduate of Forbush High School in East Bend.  After graduation he worked for Micro Fibers for many years.  He was also a skilled commercial painter.  Many people and companies would call on him to paint for them.  He also took care of people’s lawns.  In addition, he was an excellent cook with a passion for cooking on the grill.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching game shows, such as Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and other, which he had a great knowledge of being able to know the answers.  Rodney is survived by a son, Tyreise Kimbrough; five siblings: Cynthia (Chico) Fair; Michall (Teresa) Kimbrough; Angela Kimbrough; Charles (Gloria) Kimbrough; Maria (Bryon) Harris; an Aunt, Carolyn (William) Phillips; Nephews: Chico Dominique Fair, Joseph Kimbrough and Charles Kimbrough, Jr.; Niece, Shanta Kimbrough; great nieces, many cousins, and close friends including April Skeens.  A celebration of Life will be Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Gentry Family Funeral Service, 428 E. Main St. East Bend, NC 27018.  Family Visitation will begin at 10:30 am followed by the service at 11:00 am.  There will not be a public viewing.  Dr. James L.E.
