Dewey Edwards

Dewey Lee Edwards, of Mt. Airy, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the 30th of April, 2026. He was born on January 21st, 1949, to the late Harley and Jeanette Edwards. Dewey attended and was active in the Gospel Missions Baptist Church congregation. After working his entire life in the quarry, he began his “retirement career” of dirt-track racing. Racing was his biggest passion, and he enjoyed it for 30 years. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. 

In addition to his parents, Dewey was preceded in death by his sister, Judy. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Stephanie (Randy) Leupen, Christal Coleman; grandchildren, Savannah Reynolds, Cory Coleman, Curtis Coleman, Hunter Phillips, Landyn Poe; brothers, Buddy, Thomas, Kenneth; and sister Lula. A memorial service will be held on May 30th at Pine Ridge Baptist Church of Mt. Airy with Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating.
