Dewey “Lee” Mounce passed away on Saturday, November 29, at Mountain Valley Hospice in Yadkinville. He was born November 28th 1943 in Boonville to Abram Dewey Mounce and Beulah Jester Mounce, Lee was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jane Heath. He is survived by the love of his life, Virginia Sizemore Mounce, with whom he joyfully celebrated 63 years of marriage just last week. He is also survived by his children: LeAnn Mounce Doub (Darrell), Craig Mounce (Candi), and April Mounce Shore (Trent). Lee was a proud grandfather to Zach Mounce, Tanner Mounce, Caiti Mickles, Anna Doub, Natalie Doub, Lauren Shore George, Seth Shore, Logan Shore, and Dakota Shore, and a beloved great-grandfather to Colter George and Connor Shore. He had several nephews and nieces. Lee devoted more than 30 years of service to R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was a lifelong farmer. He found joy in gardening, tending the land, working outdoors, and cars. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, especially time spent with his faithful companion, Willie, and most of all, with his family. He loved his wife more each day and never missed an opportunity to share a smile or offer words of wisdom to his children and grandchildren. Above all, Lee taught those around him the importance of faith. A devout Christian, he openly shared his love for Christ with anyone willing to listen. The family offers their deepest thanks to Salemtowne Rehab, Mountain Valley Hospice and to his devoted caregiver, Jessica Garza, whose compassion meant so much. They would also like to thank his special nephew, Derek Sizemore (Sarah), and cherished family friend, Hadley Willard, for their love and support. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4th, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville. A graveside service will take place following the visitation at 2:30 PM in the Richmond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
