Mr. Donald “Don” Aubrey Linville, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather peacefully passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was 86 years old.
Born on May 26, 1937 in Forsyth County to the late John and Addie Vance Linville, Mr. Linville’s life was a testament of love and generosity for his family, and those he met. He was an active member at Calvary Baptist Church for many years and taught Sunday school. He worked for 55 years for Kelly Office Machines. He was the service manager for many years and then traveled to Wilkes, Yadkin, Surry, Davie and Forsyth Counties and assisted customers with sales.
He traveled extensively throughout his life. He visited Switzerland, Austria, Iceland, Spain, France and Germany. He went behind the iron curtain before it came down. He loved driving on the autobahn and the food in Germany. He was always quite the food connoisseur and enjoyed a good meal wherever he went.
He was known for his many talents. He could build most anything. He built furniture, buildings, decks, cabinets for homes, and once a church steeple. He enjoyed oil painting and was a very talented artist. He framed prints for clients and had a framing business at one point. He also made beautiful one of a kind knives. The handles were fashioned from deer antlers and the blades from steel. He loved clocks and built many. He would buy them, build them, fix them, exchange the inner workings and loved to make them chime. He always stayed busy. Near the end of his life, he took pleasure in feeding and watching birds.
In addition to his accomplishments, Mr. Linville will be remembered for his gentle spirit and his love for his family. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Addie Linville; Brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Georgia Linville; Sister and brother-in-law, Alverta and Homer Lynch; Brother and sister-in-law, William (Bill) and Peggy Linville; and Sister, Marion Cassell Linville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jane Linville; Children, Michael (Jo) Linville, Melinda (Kent) Renegar, Melissa (Van) Brawley; Grandchildren, William (Leslie) Linville, Bethany (Jamie) Reavis, Blake (Kacie) Renegar, Lee (Kayla) Renegar, Clint (Racheal) Renegar, Samuel (Falon) Brawley, Caleb (Priscilla) Brawley; Great-Grandchildren, Jack and Shep Linville, Eleanor, Timothy and John Reavis, Brooks, Colton and Rhett Renegar, Kolbryn and Hollyn Renegar, Charlotte and Ruby Renegar, Piper Brawley and Pierce Brawley.
