Doris Griffin

Doris Griffin, 93, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024. She was born January 15, 1931 in Bardley, Missouri to Ertie and Thelma Allen. Doris was a lifelong member of Buncombe Pentecostal Church in Naylor, Missouri. She was very active in the church and loved The Lord. In her younger years, Doris enjoyed riding horses. She spent lots of time picking grapes and oranges while she lived in California, and always enjoyed anything outdoors. Doris loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar. She will be missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Howard Griffin, Sr.; son, Harold Howard "Hal" Griffin, Jr; sisters, Ruth Higgs and Vidae Crosser; and brother, Charles Allen. She is survived by her daughters, Scharlett (Charlie Willey) Griffin and Audrey (Fleming) Crissman; grandchildren, Valerie (Dale) Smith and Craig Tyler; great-grandchildren, Carlee (Mark) Shircliffe and Christian (Cara) Smith; great-great-grandson, Landon Shircliffe; brother, James (Trish) Allen; and several extended family members. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Boonville United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm following the visitation with Rev. Jenny Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Boonville Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Boonville United Methodist Church, 116 N Carolina Ave, Boonville, NC 27011, or Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the loving care and compassion given to Doris and her family by Mountain Valley Hospice and Woltz Hospice House during this difficult time.
