Dorothy Allen Hutchens

Mrs. Dorothy Effie Allen Hutchens, 89, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 at SECU Hospice Care Center.  She was born November 27, 1932 in Davie County to Isaac Branch and Lydia Smith Allen.  Dorothy was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who spent her life taking care of her family and friends.  Dorothy was well known for her homemade bread.  

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Hutchens; and her siblings, Mildred Smith, Margaret Carter, Orpha Norman, Herman Allen, Herber Allen, and Joseph Johnson Allen.   She is survived by her sons, David (Leah) Hutchens and Daniel (Julie Ann) Hutchens; her grandchildren, Kayla (Zack) Matthews, Zachary (Emily) Hutchens, Annemarie Hutchens, and Kerianne Hutchens; two great grandchildren, Maylee and Jovie Matthews; a sister, Frances Stewart; and several nieces, nephews. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Deep Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Hauser officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 27, 2022  at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deep Creek Baptist Church, 2400 Old Stage Rd Yadkinville, NC 27055.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkinville for the loving care given to Dorothy and to her special friends who faithfully visited her.
