Dorthy Gray Bowen

Dorothy Gray Brown Bowen, 93, of Yadkinville, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025. She was born on August 24, 1931, in Yadkin County to the late Wallace Lace Brown and Sally Hutchens Brown. Dorothy retired from the Yadkin County School system. She was a quiet person who enjoyed working outside in her flowers, spending time with family, putting together puzzles, and crocheting. She was a member of Pilot View Friends Meeting.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Bowen; her half-brother, Harold Wallace Brown; and her stepmother, Annie Vestal Brown. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Rebecca (Dave) Brewer and Janet (Ronnie) Hennings; her half-sister, Brenda (Ronnie) Mosteller and Kathy (Leroy) Hobson; sister-in-law, Margaret Brown; brother-in-law, Donald Bowen; grandchildren, Brian Brewer and Nathan (Chelsey) Hennings, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the kind and caring staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for their years of dedication to Dorothy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Pilot View Friends Meeting. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Pilot View Friends Meeting in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM at the church, with Rev. Nelson Puffenbarger and Rev. Josh Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The staff of Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville will be serving the Bowen family.
