Edward "Ed" Wesley Allen

August 18, 1955 — March 5, 2026

Boonville

Mr. Edward “Ed” Wesley Allen, 70, born August 18, 1955, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Thursday, March 5, 2026, after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer. Edward was the beloved husband of Sherry Allen for 46 wonderful years, and the love they shared was the foundation of his life. Together they built a home filled with laughter, family and lasting memories. He was the loving son of Junis and Maxine Bryant Allen and was preceded in death by his parents. Edward is survived by his sister, Pamela (Fred) Shoemaker; his son, Dusty Allen, and his daughter, Kala (Greg) Longworth. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Brooklynn Allen, Nick Allen, Wesley Longworth, and Bobby Longworth, who knew him simply as “Edward” and were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Tim (Priscilla) Groce; his special niece, Ashley (Brendan) Garcia; his niece Heather (Chad) Collins, and his nephew, Josh Shoemaker. Mr. Allen was retired from Wells Fargo with 45 years of service. Edward was a proud charter member of the Yadkin Valley Cruisers and a member of the Foothills Corvette Club. He also treasured his membership in the Devotion Hunting Club, where he formed many lifelong friendships that meant so much to him. Edward loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting, collecting classic cars, going to cruise-ins and spending time camping and beach trips with his family. He was a true “Chevy man” at heart and loved anything with a big motor, speed, and power. Above all else, Edward was known for his kindness, humor, and his ability to make people feel special. He had a way of lighting up a room and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Edward’s greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His legacy is carried forward in the love he gave so freely and the memories he leaves behind. The family will receive friends, Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Fall Creek Baptist Church. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM with Rev. Don Hudson and Rev. Josh Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mitchell’s Chapel Church Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone who prayed, supported, and walked beside them during Edward’s illness. Though he is deeply missed, Edward’s family finds comfort in knowing he is healed, whole, and resting in the presence of the Lord. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be remembered with love, honor, and gratitude. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Allen family.
