Edward G. Hardy

BOONVILLE-  Mr. Edward G. Hardy, 80, of Speas Ave. passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 21, 2023.  He was born November 5, 1942 in Surry County to the late Porter and Imogene White Hardy.  Mr. Hardy was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 35 years of service.  After his retirement, he didn’t slow down and always stayed busy spending time with his family and friends.  He loved fishing, hunting, hosting fish fries for the community, he enjoyed traveling, cruising, and going camping.  Mr. Hardy was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Leo Wood.  Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, Polly Jenkins Hardy, of the home; his daughters, Robin Hinton, Lisa Hardy and husband, Danny Smith; 2 grandchildren, Haley Pardue, Taylor Hunt, and husband, Titus; step-granddaughter, Dorsey Smith; his brother, James Hardy and wife, Dianne; niece, Tiffany Warner; and great-niece, Beatrice Lane.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Friday at Union Grove Baptist Church.  His funeral service will follow the visitation in the church at 4 PM Friday with Rev.
