Mr. Edward H. Klevinski, Jr, 73, of Clemmons passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice. Ed was born in Dundalk, Maryland on February 15, 1950, to Anne Hagaman Klevinski and Edward H. Klevinski, Sr. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-five years Sami Klevinski, his parents, and sister Marion.
Ed lived in Dundalk for eight years prior to moving to Bel-Air. While a teenager there he started his lifelong passion with hot rods. Cecil County Dragway was his favorite place to hang out with his friends. Ed’s love for drag racing continued in North Carolina when he became a member of a local driver’s racing team. He and Sami enjoyed going to many events with the team.
When Ed’s family moved to North Carolina, he remained in Maryland and attended Harford Community College. After graduation, Ed then moved to North Carolina and attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh where he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering. During this time, he became a lifelong loyal Wolfpack fan.
Ed began his career with Forsyth County General Services as an engineer. He later became the Director of the General Services department responsible for the maintenance of all county properties, the automotive fleet, and janitorial services. His responsibilities also included the planning, design, and construction of new and renovated facilities. His proudest achievement was the Forsyth County Detention Center.
Ed married Sami Crissman in 1974. Their relationship was a union of two kindred souls. They met through mutual friends and were never apart till her passing. Time at Captain Cove’s on Oak Island was their go to spot until they discovered Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island. Ed cherished time with his family and friends. Ed especially enjoyed golfing at Hilton Head and snow skiing in North Carolina, West Virginia, and Vermont.
Ed is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Talley (Gary Woods) and Lita Crockett (Stafford Williams) all of Winston-Salem and a brother, Mark (Dianne) of Guyton, Georgia.
The family would like to thank Doctor Sherwood and his staff at Novant Health Cancer Center in Winston-Salem for their compassionate care. They would like to also thank the staff of Forsyth Medical Center’s Cardiac, Oncology and the Intensive Care units for their excellent care of Ed. A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice who kept Ed comfortable in his last days.
