Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Jester Eldridge, 87, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, Monday, September 1, 2025. She was born to Clyde and Lillian Vestal Jester on June 15, 1938. Lib went to Fall Creek Elementary and East Bend High School, 11 years and 3 weeks with perfect attendance. Lib left school to be married to the biological father of her 3 children. She worked at Hanes Hosiery for 18 years in the pre-boarding department, and then was a reservationist for Piedmont/US Air for 24 years. Lib loved to cook and she cooked a lot until her health started declining. She always joked that if anyone left her house hungry, it wasn’t her fault. People loved her mini meatloaves, mac and cheese, and chocolate éclair cakes. Lib loved to travel and when she and Joe got together in 1982, they traveled to 46 states, cruises to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas. Joe had completed all 50 states and they were going to finish the other 4 states for Lib and Canada, May 1st but Joe passed away February 6th. Lib was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe in 2000; her sister Peggy Jester Moxley in 2006; her mom Lillian Vestal Jester in 2003; and her daddy Clyde Jester in 2006. She is survived by her children, Cathy Adams, Vicky (Charles) Haire, Tommy (Viki) Lakey; grandchildren, Stacy (Joe) Williams, Christy (Michael) Doub, Kelly (Rodney) Bates, Kayla Haire, Bri Royal, David (Jessie) Dobbins, Andy Dobbins, Gary (Alina) Lakey, Amber (John) Recio; 21 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-greatgrandchildren. She was especially devoted to her great-grandchildren. Her great-grandson, Cambron, was the light of her life, he was “her boy”. To her great-granddaughter, Kalli Rose, whom she affectionately called her “Pretty girl”. Kalli’s hugs were some of her greatest treasures. She also cherished her work family, including her “sister from another mother” Frankye Wilson, and her dear friend Jimmy Speas, who was like a brother to her. In addition, she treasured the lifelong bond she shared with her classmate Velma Slater. The family will receive friends, Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
