Ella Mae Stroud Cheek, 95 of Jonesville, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Mrs. Cheek was born in Wilkes County, September 23, 1930 to the late John Frank Stroud and Ruby Sparks Stroud. Ella Mae was a faithful member of Swan Creek Baptist, where she had been a member nearly her whole life. She was a choir member and taught Sunday School for over 40 years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cheek was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Clay Cheek; and her daughter-in-law, Liza Cheek. She is survived by her children, Kevin Edward Cheek, Beryle Cheek (David) Shore, and Zana D. Cheek; grandchildren, Lorna, Eric, Victor, Lynn, Evangeline, Abigail, Justin (Larissa) Shore and Tyler Shore; great grandchildren, Chelsea, Chrystle, Daniel, Alexandria, Khayla, Kenzo, Noah, Hunter, Emelia, Jack, and Zoey; and siblings, Lucy Lawrence and Don (Betty) Stroud.
The Cheek family will receive friends on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. A funeral service for Mrs. Cheek will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
