Elmer Lee Groce

Yadkinville Mr. Elmer Lee Groce, 90, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at his home. Mr. Groce was born February 28, 1933 in Yadkin County to Ernest and Evelyn Cook Groce. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Groce was a member of Mt. Olive UMC and attended Wyo Bible Methodist Church. He enjoyed farming and gardening, and hunting in his younger years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Groce was preceded in death by his daughter, LuAnn Groce. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lillian Allen Groce; a son, Tim (Ashley) Groce; and grandchildren, Emma, Jenna, and Anna Kate Groce. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Huntsville Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Trivette and Pastor Jeff Moody officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive UMC Cemetery with full military honors provided by NC National Guard Honor Guard and VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM, at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Mr. Groce’s caregivers, Lesley Walser, Shirley Edwards, and Tina Hill for the loving, compassionate care given to Mr. Groce.
