Elva Lee McCann Jarvis

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Elva Lee Jarvis, who departed this life on August 29th, 2025, at the age of 89. Surrounded by family and held in love, Elva Lee left behind this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter and unwavering strength.

Born on February 13th, 1936, Elva Lee lived a life marked by compassion, resilience, and a quiet grace that touched everyone around her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Elva Lee was born in Wilkes County to Fred and Mary Zeola McCann. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her loving husband Thomas Jarvis, two sons in law: Georgie Guy and Roger Combs, and one granddaughter, Melinda Combs Pennington.

She is survived by her sister, Mary McCann of Yadkinville, five children; Shelia Combs of Hamptonville, Olivia Guy and K-9 companion JW of Hamptonville, Scotty (Teresa) Jarvis of Davidson County, Lugenia (Wayne) Caudle of Yadkinville, and Dwayne (Jennifer) Jarvis of Wilkes County. Six granddaughters; JoAnn (Oscar) Gilley, Diane (Ronnie) Hutchens, Elizabeth Jarvis, Rachael Brown, BJ (Tommy) Wilson, and Crystal (Dale) Staley. Two grandsons; Michael (Kendra) Caudle and Bradley Reavis. Elva Lee had 23 great grandchildren, and several special nieces and nephews. She was blessed with a very special great great grandchild, little miss Evelyn Rose.

A visitation will be held for Mrs. Jarvis on Monday, September 1, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hamptonville with Pastor Dana Blankley and Pastor John Attaway officiating. She will lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service at the church from 1:30-2:00 PM.

Elva Lee Jarvis was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church for several years. The family would love to thank Mountain Valley Hospice for the loving and compassionate care offered to Elva Lee and the family during this difficult time.

Elva Lee Jarvis may be gone from sight, but never from our hearts.
