Obituary of Erma Lee Shaffner, April 18, 1940 – September 10, 2022 Erma Lee Shaffner, age 82 of Jonesville, North Carolina, was called home to eternal rest on Saturday, September 10, 2022; Erma passed away after a long battle witih Alzheimer’s disease. She had resided at Dunmore Plantation in Dobson, North Carolina for the past 3.5 years. Erma was born on April 18, 1940, to Ernest Dewey Shaffner and Maxie Ennis Gentry Shaffner. She is survived by her only special sister, Ola Shaffner Baker of Lugoff, SC, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ernest G. Shaffner, Frank L. Shaffner, and James Ray Shaffner. Erma graduated from Jonesville High School. After graduating, she worked at Hanes Hosiery Mill in Winston Salem, North Carolina for a few short years before hearing the call to labour in the harvest field. Erma left her home to share the gospel to many for 20 years and labored in the states of NC, SC, FL and LA. Later in her life, Erma returned home to care for her elderly mother and father and after their death, she worked at Walmart in Elkin, North Carolina where she retired with 15 years of service. Graveside services will be held at Crestwood Memorial Gardens located at 914 US-21, State Rd., North Carolina on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 3:00 pm, with a visitation from 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm at the cemetery. Ministers Jim Holt and Tom Nussbaum will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Guy, Randy Edwards, Charles Lyons, Marty Shaffner, Scott Shaffner, and Bobby Shaffner. Hymns at the graveside will be provided by Erma’s special cousins and sister-in-law, John Guy, Nancy Lyons, and Pat Shaffner. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Dunmore Plantation for their loving care and kindness towards Erma over the past few years.
